Nadia Ibrahim, Head of Consultancy, for Farnek, who directs our sustainability strategy was recently invited by Dubai Tourism, to join a panel discussion and workshop regarding the ‘Future of Sustainable Tourism’.

The objective of the sessions was to recognise the challenges that Dubai’s tourism sector faces, when trying to manage its waste and to discuss innovative solutions as a part of the UAE Innovation Program.

Nadia commented, “I shared insights into best practice in hotel waste management based on Farnek’s extensive experience in sustainability in the hospitality sector. The workshop focused on identifying the existing waste issues and collectively we discussed various solutions, which the Dubai Tourism will now consider moving forward.”

An integral part of Farnek’s waste management consultancy for hotels, is its home-grown, internet-based software, Hotel Optimizer, a benchmarking tool which allows a hotel’s energy, water and waste to be measured and benchmarked against similar hotel buildings. Further analysis can also identify the impact of any recycling efforts and staff engagement.

Farnek which supports over 100 hotels with their environmental performance, is also the preferred partner of Green Globe, a certification process which assesses the sustainability performance of hotels and other travel and tourism businesses.
